Taipei here I come - stop 5

My very quick fly-by Singapore and Malaysia is complete...today I head out to Taipei. I'm actually looking forward to it since I'll be there longer than 24hrs and have a chance to do laundry and I update my blog (I have tons of pictures to share with you from Singapore and Malaysia). Yeh, not so fun traveling with sweaty + dirty clothes, after awhile even the best perfume can't mask the funk. All for now.

According to the locals in...

Greece:
1. KaleeMEra - Good morning2. KaleeSPERa - Good evening3. YahSU - Hello4. EfcareeSTO - Thank youP5. arakaLOH - Please, also heard as "you're welcome"6. Fashion for the ladies here are all about summer dresses, tanks and flat grecian style sandals rule (so many different designs...yes I will have to pick one up).7. Volumptuous and curves are "In" here...thank goodness (was feeling plumb in Singapore, Malaysia, and Taiwan)

New Zealand:
1. "Kia Ora" means hello or in NZ speak gidday.

Australia:
1. Victoria Bitters (VB) brand of beer trumps Fosters
2. when things are intense, its said to "full on"
3. bushwalking is hiking
4. order a "long black" if you want an americano
5. chips are deeped fried potatoes of any shape with exception of wedges which are called wedges
6. "have a look" is the same as "take a look"
7. everyone is really easy going with the constent reply of "no 8. worries mate"
9. great public transportation sytem (I've taken buses, trains, trams, and taxi..haven't tried the ferries yet)
10. bondi means "tumbling water"

Packing light for two months...its possible even for me!

A few of you have asked what I have packed for this trip. Under the advisement of a few friends who are seasoned travelers all emphasized to pack very, very light! So a week prior to the trip, I started with a huge suitcase and spent the whole week editing the contents of my suitcase. To my astonishment, I was left with only one small carry-on and a backpack for the two months of travel. Anyone who has seen me travel knows that I am a very, very good packer and can do amazing things with a small space. I know the list seems like a lot but at the end my baggage was pretty light.

On the personal attire side I packed:
one pair of jeans, two pairs of capri/shorts, four t-shirts, two long sleeves, two dresses (incase of a special event, who knows!), two blouses (also incase of a special event), two athletic pants (for running or yoga), one skirt (doubles as a sundress), one tank top, one bikini set, one vest, one rain jacket, one sports jacket, a pair of sneakers, a pair of hiking shoes, a pair of slippers, a pair of knee-high boots, six pairs of socks, enough undergarments, one sun hat (from Cozumel, Mexico trip), one baseball cap, one bandana

On the gadget side I packed:
a laptop, a journal, two cameras, six backup batteries for cameras, three 16GB compact flash card, one 250GB external hard drive, all the necessary cords and accessories, universal adapters (very important!)

On the food side I packed:
ten cliff bars, six mini lunar bars, one bag of raw almonds, two bags cliff blocks (margarita + black cherries), box of lactaid pills (for my lactose intolerant)
